INTRODUCING A NEW DIGITAL MEDIA COMPANY
HOP MEDIA

When Cooper Hefner decided it was time to create a new media company targeting hip and web savvy active readers nationwide, our digital specialists were ready to collaborate, innovate and develop a new world through HOP Media. Cooper approached us with a simple concept; to provide powerful articles and video content to read, watch and experience all from a single powerful marketing platform. The new media company would engage users in topics such as culture, politics, art, adventure, fiction and technology. The new web product would be the central component of a large-scale digital presence giving users new way to interact with content both online and in-person through live events. The main goal was to captivate audiences immediately and produce a loyal readership that frequented the website daily for new and interesting information. TACTICS

For a content rich website such as HOP, it was essential that both the design and development highlighted the content and kept the focus on the articles and videos. The active readership and millennial target audience would visit the website in search of new and tantalizing information and articles daily. So our team created refinement options that allow a user to quickly scan the page and find the type of content they are looking for. Visitors can quickly select to read, watch or experience through the top level navigation. Limiting the top level navigation categories to only three options keep things clean and simple. Whether it be events, articles, or videos the navigation menu has a smooth drop down that was developed to quickly move users through to the appropriate sections of the website efficiently. Search functionality and login access is also conveniently located at the top right hand side of the website for members to access account information or search for content based on specific keywords.

LIVE EVENTS & DIGITAL PRODUCTS

HOP wanted the new brand to be more than just a digital experience. The idea of incorporating live events for loyal members to attend and meet with one another was soon brought to life. Members would be able to buy tickets directly on the website and the entire transaction would be a seamless experience. For those that wanted specially curated digital content unavailable in the open market, we also developed the ability to purchase digital downloads as products. Pre-ordering of downloadable content for purchase was another feature that our team developed to facilitate capitalizing on anticipated member demands. This functionality allows members to pre-order, purchase tickets and digital products directly from the HOP website, download exclusive content and save it for reading or sharing when convenient.

Results

With the millennial generation surpassing the Baby Boom generation as the country’s largest living generation, Cooper Hefner understood the opportunity. But Cooper came to our digital agency wanting a new media company that would be able to better service the consumption needs of a variety of user groups including Gen X, Gen Y and Millennials and not just Baby Boomers. In less than six months’ our specialists went from a visionary’s single idea to an immersive editorial web product and brand committed to servicing an entirely new generation of information craved audiences. Through ongoing collaboration with our team, HOP Media now has the robust platform necessary to introduce new, relevant and varied content in real-time. In addition, the brand may now organize and create live event experiences all while generating new revenue streams through the eCommerce features developed for the HOP website. With an extremely successful website launch garnering over 10,000 new visitors in just a few days, the future for this new media brand looks tremendous.
